Mysore, Mar. 18 (KCU&KK)- The annual budget for 2010-11 for Zilla Panchayat was presented by its President K.S. Dharmendra at ZP auditorium here today. Presenting the budget, Dharmendra announced that the thrust in allocation this year would be on education, housing and drinking water.

Dharmendra announced that the allocation under planned category for the district would be Rs. 25,804.20 lakh covering Zilla, taluk and Gram Panchayats. “Under non-planned category, the allocation is Rs. 38,197.85 lakh, an increase of 21.66 pc over last year,” he said.

Dhamendra pointed out that the literacy level in the district was about 63 per cent and would be bettered by strengthening the primary education.

"Similarly health care facilities and water supply to rural areas would be improved. An awareness on maintaining hygiene and cleanliness would also be created", he stressed.

ZP Vice-President Nalini Chandrashekar and CEO Dr. N. Manjula were present.
