Mysore, Mar. 4- The Emerge Spa at The Windflower Mysore won the pre-stigious Pevonia Asia Spa Award in Best Ayurvedic Spa (Hotel/Resort) 2009 category.
The Windflower received three nominations — Best Destination Spa and Best Ayurveda Spa for Windflower Coorg and Best Ayurvedic Spa.
"It is a real honour to be recognised at the Asiaspa awards. Our intention in setting up the Windflower chain of resorts was to bring more people closer to the concept of spas. When we opened our first spa in Mysore, little was known about spas in South India and today we are happy to be considered pioneers in the area of spas in India," said P.V.Giri, Chairman of The Windflower Spa and Resorts.
Emerge Spa specialises in Ayurveda, a 5000-year-old Indian science of life in a contemporary and aesthetic setting and offers ancient remedies altered to suit today's requirements.
The signature treatments of the spa include Abhyanga, Shirodhara, Patra Pinda Sweda and Ayurvedic beauty therapies. A team of highly trained therapists and Ayurvedic doctors work towards offering a retreat to guests.
"The award is a testimony to the dedication and efforts of the entire team for their constant endeavor to create a holistic and unique spa experience for every single guest," said Tharun Giri, MD of Windflower Spa.
The Pevonia Asia Spa Awards was instituted in 2005 in order to recognise exceptional spas in Asia. The awards have set a benchmark for spas in the region and have been instrumental in focussing international recognition on Asia's best spas. The auditors for the award function were Grant Thornton which carried out the relevant research to award the best in each category.
The Windflower presently operates luxury resorts in Mysore and Kodagu and their new properties will soon open in Vythiri and Pondicherry. For details, visit www.thewindflower.com
