None of the leaders of the four prominent political parties that took part in the interaction with the media persons this morning were lagging behind in making tall claims about transforming Mysore into a model city.

The interaction was held in view of the MCC polls under the aegis of Mysore District Journalists’ Association at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city.

MLC Siddaraju of BJP, H.A. Venkatesh of Congress, G.T. Devegowda of JD(S) and H.V. Rajeev of KJP took part.

While Siddaraju took pot-shots at JNNURM for the “slow progress” of the works, his rival Rajeev claimed that former CM Yeddyurappa had created history by granting Rs. 100 crore as Special Grant for Mysore city for development activities.

Countering this, Venkatesh said the city had developed to some extent with Centre’s funds and not because of BSY’s special grants. He also criticised the “unscientific development of the city” by citing the example of the Raja Marga, which appears to be a never-ending project.

GTD, who has recently rejoined JD(S), lauded former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy as being the best CM of the State and said that it was during Kumaraswamy’s tenure that the Kabini water project was commissioned which has materialised now.
