Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ramegowda has urged the consumers to use RTI Act as a weapon to fight against the cheating vendors.
He was speaking after inaugurating the World Consumers’ Day jointly organised by District Consumers’ Forum and Vidyavardhaka Law College in city this morning.
Dr. Ramegowda said that the district administration was receiving a lot of complaints on consumers being cheated by the vendors. He said that there was a need to organise seminars and campaigns to educate people regarding various forms of cheating.
He also said that stern action would be taken against people involved in duping the consumers. Dr. Ramegowda also called upon the consumers to register their complaints with the district administration so that action could be initiated against such vendors.
District Consumer Forum Chairman T.H. Narayana Gowda, Forum Member C.V. Narayan, President of Vidyavardhaka Sangha Gundappa Gowda, Secretary P. Vishwanath and others were present on the occasion.
