he printing press of Prasaranga, the publication wing of the Mysore University, has been upgraded with the installation of a new printing machine worth Rs. 3 crore.
The new equipment was switched on by litterateur and former Vice-Chancellor Prof. D. Javaregowda (Dejagow) at Manasagangotri this morning.
He also inaugurated the new book store of Prasaranaga near Ramaswamy Circle.
Addressing the gathering, Dejagow said that Prasaranga was a vital unit of the University and modernisation of the printing press would strengthen it further. He was happy with the new sales outlet and suggested that books published from other Universities could also be sold at the outlet.
VC Prof. K.S. Rangappa said that Prasaranga would be further upgraded and opined that the library of the University was totally modern and well-appreciated by foreigners too.
Prasaranga Director Dr. C. Naganna said that the new computer to printing machine, colour web and offset machines along with the new binding machine would be of great help. He said that the new sales outlet stocked over 2000 books with facility to browse the books. The outlet would be open from 10 am to 8 pm daily with a 33.3 % discount offered on all books from today till Dec. 19.
