There are lot a of development oriented works for journalists in the society said Dinesh Amin Mattu, Press Secretary to Chief Minister Siddharamaiah. He was speaking at the inauguration of two-day workshop for media representatives organised by University of Mysore under the aegis of UGC and University Potential for Excellence (UPE). Speaking on present scenario, Dinesh said that the journalism was no more a service oriented or profession as it had become a business.
He added the journalists always worked under pressure surrounded by readers in the front, owners at the top, colleagues beside and families at the back. Dinesh added that it was important for the media houses to retain the faith among the public.
He also released monthly newsletter ‘Abhyudaya’ and journal on Media and Social Development on the occasion. Dinesh also inaugurated the audio-visual editing room at the Department of Studies in Journalism. The media workshop was inaugurated by S. Rajendra Babu, former Chief Justice of India.
The organisers also felici- tated senior journalist Krishna Vattam on the occasion. University of Mysore Vice Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa, Ruth L. Leano, Chief, UNICEF (Andhra Pradesh and Karantaka), Prof. N. Usharani, Chief Co-ordinator, UPE, Focus Area-II and Dhrusti, Prof. C. Naganna, Director, University of Mysore Prasaranga were present on the occasion.
