The two-day International Conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Finance and Accounting’ organised by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDM-IMD) at their premises in Siddarthanagar began yesterday.

The conference was inaugurated by Koushik Chatterjee, Executive Director and Group CFO, Tata Steel.

Koushik, in his inaugural address, said that the economic status now has become critical and stressful and added that risk management and political governance should be scientific-decisions and not motivated-decisions.

He further said that risk management should be transparent and to make it transparent, collective wisdom should be taken and stressed that principle-based accounting is needed and not rule-based accounting.

Technical session by Nagarajan Srinivasan, AVP and Head, Infosys Limited, Mysore was held later in the day.

Dr. Ashok Hegde, AVP, Capital Markets, Infosys Limited, Dr. Ullas Rao, Conference Chair, Dr. N. R. Parasuraman, Director, SDM-IMD, Mysore and others were present. The meet concludes this evening.
