Mysore City Traffic Police who have launched a drive against helmetless two-wheeler riders, yesterday arrested two sandalwood smugglers while they were moving near Mysore Race Club (MRC) Circle and seized sandalwood chips weighing about 7 kg and a machete from them.
The two nabbed have been identified as 25-year-old Suhail, a resident of Udayagiri and Javeed, a resident of Shanthinagar in city.
It is reported that Devaraja Traffic Police who were checking helmetless two-wheeler riders near MRC, stopped a two-wheeler (KA-09 W-9747) for checking as the rider were not wearing helmet.
To their surprise, the riders were found carrying sandalwood chips in two bags. Cops who arrested the two, handed them over to Nazarbad Police who have registered a case and are investigating.
Devaraja Traffic SI M.N.Satish Kumar Urs, staff Shivaraj and Chandrashekar took part in the nabbing and seizing operation.
