Over 100 members of District Tipper Owners’ Association lined up about 25 tippers in front of PWD office near Deputy Commissioner’s office here today and staged a protest demanding issuance of permits for tippers to transport sand, which has been reportedly withdrawn from Feb. 28. They are on strike since the midnight of Mar. 24.

Stating that permits were still being issued for transportation of sand in tippers in Mandya, Dakshina Kannada and Hassan Districts, they appealed District Sand Committee, Department of Mines & Geology and PWD to resume issuance of sand permits to tipper owners here also. The protest was led by K. Arun Kumar, President, Mysore District Tipper Owners Assn. Later, they presented a memorandum to PWD Executive Engineer.
