Sleuths of Mysore Forest Mobile Squad yesterday arrested three persons who were indulged in selling peacocks and partridges and seized 11 dead peacocks, 28 dead partridges, four partridge nets, one silk net, three bird traps, three cages and two bikes used for the crime.

The nabbed have been identified as Nazir Hussain, a resident of Gargeshwari in T.N. Pura; Shivaraj, son of Nagendra and Billa, son of Majul, residents of Tiger Block in H.D. Kote, who are said to be nomads.

The sleuths of the Forest Mobile Squad caught Nazir Hussain who was travelling on a Hero Honda Passion Plus bike carrying the dead birds near Udayagiri Bus Stand on Mahadevapura road yesterday.

Based on the information provided by Nazir during interrogation, the Police reached Kotthagalli village in Kirgawal and arrested Shivaraj and Billa who were hunting peacock and partridges and seized a TVS Vector (TN-48-BO-541) from them. They were later handed over to the custody of the officials of wildlife conservation who will register cases under various Sections of the Forest Act.

SP Janendra Kanagavi of Madikeri CID Forest Unit told SOM that SI Rajashekar, Head Constables Javaregowda, K.Nagaiah, Jayaramu, Achuthan, Kumar, Ravi and Jeep Driver Raju took part in the nabbing and seizing operation.
