The three-day workshop on feature writing organised by Centre for Proficiency Development and Placement Services, University of Mysore, was inaugurated by veteran journalist Krishna Vattam here this morning.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishna Vattam said that a feature writer should develop a flair for writing and should have knowledge about various developments in the society. This apart, a feature writer should be broad-minded and develop the habit of reading a lot of newspapers.
Vattam expressed confidence that the workshop would encourage the participants to develop the above mentioned habits.
Later, Shivananda Kalave, environment journalist, said that it was important for a feature writer to have a positive frame and added that reading books, newspapers and learning about environment would help them in enhancing their writing skills.
Centre Director Prof. A.S. Dasan, Programme Co-ordinator Prof. Niranjana Vanalli and others were present on the occasion.
