Mysore, Oct. 21 (RK&BRS)- Scion of the royal family Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar offered worship to Goddess Chamundeshwari at the hill temple this morning to launch the grand annual Rathotsava of the deity. Nearly 50,000 devotees witnessed the event as the royal couple, joined by District In-Charge Minister S.A. Ramdas and devotees pulled the chariot with the utsavamurthy of the Goddess on it. The chariot was taken around the temple for one round in accordance with the custom, concluding at 11.30 am.
Chief Priest Shashishekara Dikshit and his team comprising Devi Prasad, Sunil and Jayaram guided the Wadiyars during rituals.
Mysore City Traffic ACP Shankaregowda and K.R. Traffic Police Inspector Prabhakara Barki supervised traffic movement. K.R. Police Inspector Srinivas supervised security bandobust, including orderly vehicle parking. KSRTC had arranged special buses from the city.
The temple will be kept open up to 10 pm today. Vegetable pulav (eight quintals), Kumkum and flowers were offered as prasada to the devotees.
