With forest area shrinking and wild animals coming out in search of food and water, a leopard, which had strayed into human habitat in city, was captured after being tranquillised by forest officials in the wee hours of today.
It is reported that the leopard had strayed into Kendriya Vidyalaya premises in Raghavendranagar last night, resulting in tension among the residents who immediately informed the Police and forest officials.
Meanwhile, ACF Durgegowda, who led the operation, speaking to SOM said that the male leopard, aged about two years, was tranquillised by Akram, who was assisted by forest officials Subramanya and Aradhya along with veterinarian Dr. Nagaraj and Zoo vet Dr. Suresh.
Nazarbad and Lashkar Police too participated in the late night operation to capture the leopard.
