Thousands of fans and followers from across the district gathered in front of Chief Minister-designate Siddharamaiah’s residence near Digantha Circle at Sharadadevinagar in city this morning.
People began to flock the residence as early as 4 am, but they were allowed to greet Siddharamaiah only after 8.30 am, as he reportedly had an extended sleep following tiredness caused by hectic campaigning across the State.
Siddharamaiah, after accepting greetings from his supporters, left for Chamundi Hill. Upon his return, he visited litterateur Devanur Mahadeva’s residence on Navilu Road in Kuvempunagar, where he had a casual discussion with him.
During the meeting, Devanur Mahadeva is said to have suggested Siddharamaiah to address the problems of the downtrodden and take up appropriate measures for their upliftment.
He is said to have advised the CM-designate on protecting the interests of the State, cracking down on land and mining mafia, keep at bay the vested interests and spruce up the administrative machinery in the State.
Congress leaders Y. Mahesh, MDCC President C. Basavegowda, former MLA M. Sathyanarayana and a large number of supporters were present.
Siddharamaiah left for Bangalore at around 1 pm. He was accompanied by Krishnaraja MLA M.K. Somashekhar till Maddur.
