Mysore, Feb. 3 (DV)- Under the joint auspices of the Department of Health, Women and Child Welfare and Information Department, National Service Scheme (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Kendra, the Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India has organised an awareness programme on H1N1 for 4 days in 25 villages of the district, said Field Publicity Officer N.D. Prasad.
He was addressing a preliminary meeting on H1N1 arranged in the office of the District Health and Family Welfare Officer on Monday. Four units of Field Publicity Departments in Mysore, Shimoga, Chitradurga and Hassan districts will create awareness for four days in 25 villages of the respective districts through walk, he said. Awareness will be created among the rural folk by organising group discussion, film competition and show by folk troupes, he added.
The programme has already been organised in four districts of the State, he said.
In connection with this programme, a seminar on H1N1 control and prevention has also been organised at Sarada Vilas College Centenary Hall on Feb. 4 at 10.30 am, he explained.
The seminar will be inaugurated by MP H. Viswanath. MLA S.A. Ramdas will preside. Mayor Purushotham, Field Publicity Director M. Nagendraswamy and ZP CEO Dr. N. Manjula will participate as the chief guests.
N.R. Vijay, Dy. Director, Wo-men & Child Welfare Dept., B.S. Ranga Iyengar, President, Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions and S.Shiva, Sarada Vilas Administrative Board member, will be the special invitees. District Surveillance Officer Dr. Nagaraju and Dr. Khader, Biochemistry Scientist, Hasiru Hani Trust, will speak on H1N1, he added. Prasad sought the co-operation of Asha activists and Anganavadi Assistants for the success of the programme. District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Raju and Mangalore Field Publicity Officer Nanjun-daswamy, Nehru Yuva Kendra's Nataraj were present.
