The Association of Private Schools has appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to extend the date for submission of applications after scrutiny received from students under the Right To Education (RTE) category.
The meeting of the Association of Managements of CBSE, ICSE and State private schools chaired by the President R. Raghu in city yesterday was attended by representatives of 150 schools.
The DC had reportedly set the deadline as Mar. 2 for submission of the scrutinised applications to the Education Department. The school members contended that the students seeking seats under RTE had applied to several schools and many students were above the stipulated income bracket.
They added that such applications were being sent back for scrutiny by the Tahasildar. They thus consensually decided to seek extension of time to start the admission process for students under RTE.
Fr. Thomas Becket D’Souza, Association General Secretary S.Ramanathan and others were present.
