Mysore, Feb. 21 (RK&KMC)- Misappropriation to the tune of Rs. 2 crore by CHESCom officials has been reported of late, as per an audit report for the year 2008-09 published by the Comptroller and Auditor General.
As per the report, a contract for Rs. 2 crore was awarded to M/s Reli-E-Marg for the installation of Global Information System (GIS) in the five sub-divisions of CHESCom during Nov. 2009, allegedly by violating all tender procedures.
It is also alleged in the report that the entire amount was released to the contractor in three installments and that too, before completion of the project.
G.L. Chandrashekhar, Executive Engineer (Planning and Commission), Shanthi, Chief Engineer and Veeranna, Director (Technical), officials of the CHESCom have been named as the persons responsible for the fraudulent deal favouring the contractor.
The C&AG report has further shed light on three recent cases of misappropriation of funds in the CHESCom amounting to Rs. 8 crore, Rs. 14 cr. and Rs. 4 cr.
