Mysore, Sept. 24 (MRS)- About 300 teachers and non-teaching employees of residential schools are staging a dharna since morning today near the office of the Deputy Commissioner protesting against termination of their jobs.

They are demanding their reinstatement in the wake of district administration’s move to recruit teachers and employees to Morarji Schools, Kittur Rani Chennamma schools and tribals’ residential schools.

The agitators claimed that about 900 teachers and employees were recruited by the outsourcing agencies hired by the Mysore Zilla Panchayat about eight years ago. The agencies were selected through tenders.

The administration of these schools was handed over to the district administration about three months ago and the Zilla Panchayat, which called tenders from agencies for recruitment of teachers and employees, did not open them.

The Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), following instructions from the district administration, conducted written tests for fresh recruitment inviting the applications online, the protestors have alleged.
