An awareness rally on “Preventive Cardiology” organised by the Department of Community Medicine, MMC&RI, marked the World Heart Day in city today.

MMC&RI Dean & Director Dr. B.G. Sagar flagged off the rally at MMC&RI premises. The rally passed through Irwin road, Ashoka road, Gandhi Square and New Sayyaji Rao road before culminating at MMC&RI.

The participants, who comprised Medical, Nursing and Paramedical students of MMC&RI, held placards that read “No to Junk Food,” “No smoking”, “No Alcohol.” MMC&RI Community Medicine HoD Dr. Mudassir Nazar and others were present.

Mysore Dairy (MYMUL) distributed butter milk sachets to the participants.

Walkathon

In another event, nearly 1,000 students from various schools and colleges of the city participated in a walkathon jointly organised by Narayana Hryudayalaya and Vidhyaashrama college.

The rally was flagged off by Mysore University VC Prof. K.S. Rangappa at the open air theatre in Manasagangotri. The rally went around the University campus at Manasagangotri, creating awareness on heart ailments.

MLA Tanveer Sait, Corporator Snake Shyam, doctors of Narayana Hurudayalaya and others were present.
