Mysore, July 31 (KK&KMC)- Foundation stone for the construction of Rajpath — the 4.80 kms long stretch of Dasara Jumboo Savari route from Hardinge Circle to Bannimantap — was laid by the District In-Charge Minister S. Suresh Kumar at the Town Hall here this morning. The project, worth Rs. 18.65 crore, is a part of Mysore Vision 2025, taken up under the Chief Minister's special grant of Rs. 100 crore for Mysore city. After laying the foundation stone, Suresh Kumar unveiled a stone plaque that displayed project details.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Rajpath, to be constructed with a heritage concept in conformation with the rich cultural ethos of the erstwhile Mysore kingdom, will surpass even the Rajpath in New Delhi in aesthetics and magnitude. "It is hoped that the project will be complete by Dasara 2011, though it will be late by one year," he said.

The Rajpath will have tiled pavements, antique solar street lamps, stone railings and stone benches, fountains, landscaped parks, signboards and LED display boards, he added. In order to prevent digging of the road, a cableduct will be provided all along the length of Rajpath to run pipes and cables.
