Mysore, July 22 (SH&KK)- The participation of the public of Mysore in JNNURM projects is quite good, opined the two-member team of co-ordinators from the Centre.
The co-ordinators Nitika Arora and Sonali Bhatnagar yesterday inspected various locations where JNNURM works with public participation are identified in the city.
B.K. Suresh Babu, Superintending Engineer in charge of the works, explained the project details and requirements of grants to the team members. A total of 108 works had been proposed under the project and sent to the Centre while only 10 proposals were approved, he disclosed.
The team of Central co-ordi-nators visited seven locations out of 10 in the city and opined that public participation was quite good and it was necessary to provide the grants. They also said that they would submit a report to the government and would discuss with officers concerned various issues relating to release of more grants. The team is scheduled to visit remaining three locations today before leaving for Bangalore on way to New Delhi.
The co-ordinators have given their nod in favour of 10 projects including a library in Gangotri Layout, park in J.P. Nagar, interlock paving, 2 bio-methane units in the Zoo, community hall in Manchegowdana Koppal. The works will be taken up as soon as the grants are released, said Suresh Babu.
