Untiring and relentless efforts by Police coupled with active public co-operation can ensure that Mysore emerges a crime-free city thus ensuring safety to all, specially womenfolk, observed city Police Commissioner Dr. M.A. Saleem here yesterday.
Addressing a press conference at his office during which he handed over certificates of appreciation to R. Ravi and Santhosh, who caught a chain snatcher and handed him over to the Police at Kuvempunagar on Aug.19, he appreciated the efforts of general public who were venturing to nab chain snatchers and hand them over to the Police which had helped in cracking 41 cases of chain- snatching.
Dr. Saleem, who said that co-operation from public had helped in nabbing chain-snatchers including the one involving JD(S) leader Dharmendra Prasad, added that the case of the theft of Rs. 5 lakh from a traveller of a bus near Nanjumalige Circle recently will be solved soon.
Deliberating over the kidnap and subsequent murder case of Sanjay in Vijayanagar limits which still remained uncracked, Saleem said that Special teams had been formed to solve the case and expressed confidence that the case would be cracked soon besides hoping to nab those absconding in the kidnap of industrialist Prabhakar Shetty.
CCTV cameras for Dasara: Besides installing 40 CCTV cameras on the route of the Jumboo Savari, assistance from Crime Branch Police of Bangalore will be taken to ensure smooth conduct of Dasara, Dr. Saleem added.
