Mysore, Feb. 26 (KVV&MTY)- The private bus drivers of Mysore-T.Narasipur route resorted to a snap stir this morning to protest against the villagers who allegedly assaulted a bus driver last evening as the bus driver did not stop the bus at their village, Keelanapura.

According to Police sources, a private bus (NMSRT) shuttling Mysore to Yelandur via T. Narasipur daily is a non-stop bus and there is no provision to make a halt at any other place except T. Narasipur.

A passenger who boarded the said bus at Mysore yesterday at about 5 pm demanded the driver to stop the bus at Keelanapura. But the driver Andappa refused to do so stating that it was a non- stop bus and finally halted two kms away from Keelanapara stop.

Enraged by this, the said commuter as well as a small group of villagers assaulted the driver, who lost consciousness and fell down. Later, the passengers of the said bus with the help of conductor and cleaner got the driver admitted to a private hospital in T. Narasipur where he is said to be recovering.

Following this incident, there was no private bus on the route this morning from Mysore to T.N.Pur.

This resulted in causing inconvenience and hardship to first PUC and first degree students who had to appear for examinations being held today.

Mysore (Rural) Police Inspector Gopala-krishna, SIs Jagadish and Santosh Kashyap were holding discussions with the drivers of private buses when we went to press.
