Mysore, Mar.6- Pratham Mysore is on the look out for young meritorious students who will be writing the 10th std. exam this April and needing financial help to continue higher education which includes college fees, exam fees and bus pass (if applicable).

This unique opportunity is made available to selected students of Mysore district studying in government schools and aided schools under 'Nurture Merit Programme' supported by Vidya Poshak, a Dharwad-based NGO. Students passing 10th std. exam of April 2010 with a minimum of 70 per cent of marks and who score above 60 per cent in Nurture Merit Test conducted jointly by Pratham Mysore and Vidya Poshak in the month of May-June 2010, will be eligible.

Although the family income of the student should not exceed Rs. 40,000 per annum, the identification of deserving students will be made by the authorised volunteers of Pratham by visiting the dwelling units of students to assess the financial need to ensure that only the deserving are supported and identification is not on the basis of mere documents. To instill a sense of responsibility among students, they are linked to the donors for regular appraisal about academic progress made.

Pratham Mysore appeals to the citizens of Mysore to help in identifying eligible students for the Nurture Merit Test so that meritorious but economically impoverished children will have every opportunity.

Application forms are available at all government schools, aided schools and office of Pratham Mysore. Completed applications should reach Pratham office before 15th April.
