Mysore, May 30 (SH)- Efforts are being made to include the publications of Prasaranga in the University of Mysore's web-site, disclosed Prof. V.G. Talwar, Vice-Chancellor.

He was speaking after being felicitated during the annual meeting of Mysore Librarians and Information Scientists Association (MYLISA) in the auditorium of JSS Management Studies Centre at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering here yesterday.

Out of the 2500 books in Prasaranga, 2,000 belong to reviews, the Vice-Chancellor said, adding that the editions of Kannada encyclopedia have been included in CD and supplied to readers. These will be placed on the website, he said.

Efforts have been made to take the information relating to Karnataka Knowledge Commission to rural readers and the University of Mysore has joined hands in this, he said.

If MYLISA comes forward to train librarians, the University is prepared to provide the required human resources, Prof. Talwar assured.

Speaking on the occasion, retired Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Venkataramaiah said that remarkable advances have been witnessed in the field of information science. The proof of a good library is the extent to which the available services and facilities have been made available to the users, he said.

Prof. B.G. Sangameshwara, Principal, Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, taking part as a special invitee, called for a serious debate on how to face the many challenges in the library field.

Prof. Mallinatha Kumbara, President, MYLISA, presided. Secretary Basappa was present. Staff of the libraries of various institutions took part.
