The city is facing acute power blackout for the past couple of days, with electric poles uprooted in several parts of the city on account of gusty winds and rainfall on Friday and Saturday night.

The severely affected areas in the city included J.P. Nagar, Agrahara and Vidyaranyapuram, which are under total darkness. The citizens are blaming the CESC authorities for their apathy in restoring power.

The efforts to contact people’s representatives too seems to be in vain, as according to many residents, their mobile phones are found to be switched off.

The residents, venting their ire against CESC authorities for indifferent attitude, are a worried lot as exams are underway.

Though the authorities have cleared the fallen trees, they have not replaced the broken electric poles and ensured resumption of power supply.

The authorities on their part, claimed that the staff were busy with election work, which had hampered restoration of power.
