Works pertaining to filling of pot holes on city roads will be taken up before Dasara while other major works estimated at Rs.100 Crore will be taken up later, said District In-Charge Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad here yesterday.
Speaking to media persons after hosting breakfast to the family members of mahouts and Kavadis at Amba Vilas Palace, he said that honorarium for Dasara procession folk artistes has been hiked from Rs.500 to Rs.750 and added that arrangements would be made to provide refreshments to these artistes during the procession.
Prasad further said that he would hold talks with royal scion Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar with regard to the torn silk cloth that is used to decorate Howdah carrying elephant during his meeting scheduled for Sept.19.
Stating that wrestlers were being benefitted with pensions, Prasad said that there were no proposals of increasing their pensions or providing them jobs despite the Government being aware of their difficulties.
The Minister further said that Rs. 6 crore had been released for Dasara preparations and added that Rs. 25 lakh had been released for Raitha Dasara and Grameena Dasara which will take place in Chamarajanagar districts.
