Deputy Commissioner and District Electoral Officer C. Shikha has served notices to three persons for violating the poll code of conduct which is in force in view of the byelection to the Legislative Council from local bodies of Mysore-Chamarajanagar district.

Marking the birthday celebrations of Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, the three persons were allegedly involved in performing Guddali puja for the construction of the house of a pourakarmika woman at Hosahundi village in the taluk.

One Ravindra was said to have complained to the DC that former Taluk Panchayat President Manjula Manjunath, Hosahundi Gram Panchayat President Manjula Neelegowda and GP member Basavegowda along with the Panchayat Development Officer had taken part in the Guddali puja violating the poll code of conduct. He was believed to have also alleged that plans were afoot to encroach upon government land.

However, the three persons in their reply to the DC’s notice, were said to have contended that it was a private engagement and out of the purview of poll code of conduct. They have reiterated that the programme was not organised by the Gram Panchayat.

They further stated that CM’s followers had come forward to build a house for the Pourakarmika woman in a philanthropic gesture which has not been tolerated by some envious persons thus levelling a false allegation.
