Just a day after Chief Minister Siddharamaiah took senior Police officers to task at a review meeting held in Bangalore and warned them of stringent action on receiving complaints of negligence, a senior Police officer in CM’s home city seems to have taken the matter lightly.
Are we living in a free society or under dictatorship? Is honking in front of a Police officer’s residence to avoid an accident an offence? These are the questions the public asked when a KSTRC city bus driver and a conductor were beaten black and blue by a senior Police officer just for honking in front of his house in city this morning.
KSRTC bus driver Syed Yusufuddin and conductor Mohan Kumar, who were on duty, took their bus KA 09 F 4543 from the City Bus Stand (route number 161) with passengers on board to Kalyangiri. The bus which left the City Bus Stand at around 8 am reached Adi Shakti Circle located in Gayathripuram near Jalpuri Police Quarters.
Just as the bus reached the Circle, the bus driver Syed Yusuffuddin honked to avoid a cyclist who came to the middle of the road. However, the bus driver and the conductor wouldn’t have even dreamt that a horn to avoid an accident could put them into trouble.
The place where the bus honked was in front of CAR ACP Mallikarjunappa’s house. Irked over the sound made by the bus driver, Mallikarjunappa chased the bus in his private car and waylaid it near Jnanajyothi School Bus Stop at Raghavendra Nagar and pulled the driver and conductor out of the bus abusing them using unparliamentary words.
