Upset over four-time Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait not being accommodated in the newly formed State Cabinet, Firoze Khan, President of Karnataka State Tanveer Sait Fans Association, today attempted immolation by dousing himself with kerosene in front of Mahatma Gandhi bust located opposite City’s Court Complex.
Firoze, who arrived in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s bust, staged a dharna and demanded a Cabinet berth for his leader. However, his immolation attempt was foiled as the Police took him to their custody.
The city also witnessed protest by the members of D.K. Shivakumar Abhimanigala San-gha headed by its President P.N. Chethan. The protesters gathered in front of City Congress Office and shouted slogans against the party and demanded Ministerial berth for their leader.

Even as the swearing-in ceremony of 28 Ministers was on, followers of leaders who had been denied a berth staged protests outside the Raj Bhavan bringing vehicular traffic on the busy Raj Bhavan Road to a grinding halt for some time and Police were hard pressed to restore normal traffic.
