The 33rd NIPM (National Institute of Personnel Management) Foundation Day was celebrated in city recently in which a quiz competition on basic HR concepts was conducted where HR students, HR faculties and HR professionals participated in large numbers.

A panel discussion on ‘Plight of HR Professionals - from all angles’ was held by A.C. Narendra, Sr. Advocate, Management Consultant and President of Industrial Management Association, Mysore; Harish Machaiah, an eminent Educationist and Trainer and Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDM-Institute for Management Development, Mysore.

Various requirements/deficiencies in HR functioning were brought out for seeking amendments in the Factories Act 1948, which provides for initiating criminal proceedings against the occupier/ Factory Manager for violations, with the justification of their physical presence for a long period of time during the day for a considerable period by various HR practicing professionals.

Suggestions were made to prevail upon authorities either to insist the organisations to recognise the degrees/diplomas awarded by the duly constituted Universities or not to permit to conduct such courses.

Prizes were distributed to the winners in the quiz contest — K.V. Ravi, Officer (Personnel and Administration), SAN Engineering, who bagged the first prize followed by B. Ravikumar, Manager (HR), Skanray Technologies, Mysore who bagged the second prize while the third prize was bagged by Srinivasamurthy, Manager (HR), SAN Engineering.
