Vidushi Nandini Eswer, Director and the artistes of Raasavrunda School of Dance, will be presenting a dance-drama Dasaru Kanda Gopi Krishna on the occasion of Nartana Namana at Veene Sheshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar at 6.30 pm on Nov. 14.

Krishna is the most celebrated deity in the world of music and dance. Dasa Sahitya is the literature of Bhakti movement. Saint Purandaradasa contributed to the rich heritage of Karnataka music. He made an indelible impression on the religious and cultural life of Karnataka. They spread the didactic teachings in a musical form to the hearts of common man.

Like other doyens of Indian classical music, Purandaradasa offered pooja to Vishnu through music, called naadopasana. The dance-drama Dasaru Kanda Gopi Krishna is a vision of Purandaradasa into the life of Krishna in Mathura till he leaves to Dwaraka for Billa Habba. He is adorned in various perspectives as a God-child, a prankster, a model lover, a divine hero and the Supreme Being.

The dance-drama Dasarukanda Gopi Krishna is choreographed and directed by Vid. Nandini Eswer and Music is by Vid. S.K. Vasumathi. Assistant Direction is by Kausalya Chandra and Dr. Rohitha Eswer.

The performing artistes are: Nisha, Gandharvika, Ananya, Sharanya, Nidhi, Anisha, Poorvi, Chinmayee, Anagha, Mrudula, Dhruti, Pragnya, Smriti, Niharika, Lahari, Prachi, Srikrupa, Lavanya, Archana, Supritha, Upasana, Madhra, Priya, Shantala, Nitya, Indu, Ramya, Sindhu, Ranjani, Chaitra, Apoorva and Yashaswini.
