More than 100 motorbikes ridden by supporters of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi took out a rally in city this morning as part of Modi’s birthday celebration.
The rally was organised by NaMo Brigade Mysore, in support of Modi, who was recently anointed as the Prime Ministerial candidate of BJP.
The rally was launched by city advocate O. Sham Bhat in front of Kote Anjaneya Swamy temple at the Palace northern gate.
Speaking on the occasion, Sham Bhat, making an indirect jibe at Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, said that the State of Punjab, which had gifted lions (brave warriors) to the nation in the past, now has to bow its head in shame for giving a feeble leader who is more like a mouse at the helm of affairs of the country.
“Now it is time to prove to the rest of the world what a lion’s roar sounds like, for which we have to support Narendra Modi as the future Prime Minister,” said Bhat.
Pointing out that the youths, who seek change, are eager to see Modi as the Prime Minister after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he called upon the public to support BJP in order to make Narendra Modi as the PM.
The rallyists, some wearing masks of Modi, passed through Irwin Road, JLB road, Agrahara and other thoroughfares.
MLC C.H. Vijayshankar, Corporators Balasubrahmanyam aka Snake Shyam, Nandeesh Preetham and B.V. Manjunath, advocate P.D. Medappa, Mysore District Petroleum Dealers’ Association President S.K. Dinesh, Dr. Manjunath, leaders Pradeep, Manjunath, Harish and others were present on the occasion.
A special puja was held under the aegis of Mysore District Ganiga Association at Agrahara’s 101 Ganapathi temple. MLC Vijayashankar distributed sweets among the public on the occasion.
