A meeting of Principals of Government, aided and unaided PU Colleges of the district was held today at Maharaja’s Junior College here.

The meeting is said to be a sequel to the meeting convened by the Director of PU Education Board in Bangalore recently which was attended by the Deputy Directors of all districts where instructions were passed on regarding the admission and examination process in PU Colleges.

Today’s meeting was attended by Principals of 204 PU Colleges (68 government, 32 aided and 104 unaided).

Addressing the gathering, DDPU K.M. Puttu said that the syllabus of first PUC had been changed and in view of that he instructed all the Principals to make sure that the students admitted to first PUC were clearly told about the new syllabus.

He further asked them to begin the classes immediately after closure of the admission process without losing time.

The DDPU warned of stringent action on colleges not abiding by the rule.

Referring to students who have failed in first PU examination, Puttu appealed to the Principals not to look down upon such students but groom them up with a positive mind to succeed in subsequent attempts, by providing extra coaching.

Speaking on the admission process, DDPU Puttu sought the admission register in colleges to be in order with all details intact leaving no scope for any hiccups.

He asked the Principals to send details of fees collected from students during admission process without fail to the office of the DDPU.

Puttu asked the Principals to make good arrangements to stage taluk-level sports. Appreciating the 10% rise in pass percentage in the district, Puttu appealed to the Principals to take it further up. He said that the government was contemplating to have own buildings for its PU Colleges.
