To bring down the power consumption during Mysore Dasara, Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) and Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs will be used for illumination during Dasara this time.
Disclosing this at a preliminary meeting of sponsors of illumination of roads and circles at the office of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC) in Kuvempunagar here yesterday, CESC Managing Director A.B. Ibrahim said that CFL and LED bulbs would not compromise on the grandeur of illumination but definitely would bring down the power consumption.
He assured the sponsors that all precautions would be taken this time to prevent any technical hassle.
Continuing, Ibrahim said that preparations were on to organise Vidyut Mela during Mysore Dasara at the expo grounds featuring power-saving tips, solar park and usage of alternative sources of energy.
A few sponsors alleged that MCC and CESC officers did not extend the needed co-operation during last Mysore Dasara resulting in forced usage of generators for illumination purpose.
Ibrahim assured that such hiccups would not resurface and said that the choice of the road and circle for illumination was left to the discretion of the sponsors who should present their selection before CESC with a demonstration before Aug. 28.
He suggested the sponsors that top priority should be given to important circles in the city hub for illumination with maximum grandeur.
Representatives of SBM, Excel Power Plant, Triton Valves, More supermarket, Premier Properties, Great White Electricals, J.K. Tyres, Sendhil Kumar Textiles, Malabar Gold, SKF Technologies, TVS Motors and other organisations participated in the meeting. Ibrahim said that the follow-up decisions would be taken at the next meeting with the sponsors on Aug. 28.
CESC Technical Director Bhagya Nayak, Chief Engineer Shanti and Superintending Engineer Satyanarayan too participated in the meeting.
