Mysore, July 18 (RK&DV)- The Muzrai Department is considering taking over Sri Lakshmi Venkataramanaswamy Temple on KRS Road, popularly known as Vontikoppal temple.

On the orders of Deputy Commissioner Harsha Gupta, the temple may be taken over. He has instructed Mysore Taluk Assistant Commissioner Bharathi to investigate about the allegations made on the temple and to submit a report.

Some of the priests and devotees of the temple have complained to the Deputy Commissioner in writing that not only the Temple Trust is misappropriating the temple funds but some priests are also misusing it, disclosed Addl. DC Dr. C.G. Betsurmath.

Investigation started

Assistant Commissioner Bharathi, who has started investigation under orders from the Deputy Commissioner, is collecting necessary information. Since CC cameras are already instal-led at the temple, the recorded information in CDs are being collected for evidence.

Rules

On receipt of the report from the Assistant Commissioner, the Endowment Committee will serve a notice to the Temple Trust seeking explanation. After going through the report, the Deputy Commissioner will prepare a report on the facts and figures and send it to the Government with his recommendations.

"In case the allegations are proved, the matter will be discussed at the Government level, the Trust will be dissolved and Muzrai Department will publish a Gazette Notification about taking over of the temple," Muzrai Assistant Nayak told Star of Mysore.

None of the Trustees of the temple were available on phone to react on this matter.
