Mysore, July 29 (RK&DM)- The MUDA general meeting held yesterday gave the nod for MUDA's ambitious 'Namma Mane' scheme which envisaged housing for the poor.
The meeting held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Harsha Gupta, who is also the MUDA Chairman, unanimously gave its approval for the scheme. A project report on distributing houses proposed to be built in Lalitadripura, R.T. Nagar and Vijayanagar 4th Stage to the genuinely poor people, subject to certain conditions, was placed before the meeting.
The meeting also discussed the Rs. 11 crore Chamundi Vihar Stadium overall development project, following which it was approved to grant Rs. 5 crore for the project and to seek the rest Rs. 6 crore from the Government and MCC.
The meeting which also discussed recovery of balance money due to the MUDA out of the sale of CA sites and construction of buildings at these sites in violation of the norms, came up with a suggestion on taking up this issue at its next meeting.
MLAs H.S. Shankaralingegowda, Tanveer Sait, S.A. Ramdas and M. Satyanarayan, MLCs Sandesh Nagaraj, Marithibbegowda, Siddaraju, Thontadarya, Prof. Mallikarjunappa, Chikkamadu, G. Madhusudhan and other members attended the meeting.
MUDA Commissioner P.C. Jayanna, Secretary Ravikumar, Superintending Engineer Shivakumar, Executive Engineer Veerabhadraiah, City Planning member M.N. Kumar and other officials took part in the meeting.
Wordy duel
Meanwhile, it is learnt that MLCs Sandesh Nagaraj and Marithibbegowda had a wordy duel in connection with a CA site at yesterday's MUDA meeting.
Marithibbegowda took strong objection just as Sandesh Nagaraj came forward to explain his stand on the controversy over a CA site that was allotted during his tenure as MUDA Chairman, following which heated exchanges broke out between the two.
The situation calmed down when other members and officials intervened to pacify the two warring members, it is learnt.
