Mysore, Feb. 23 (DM)- MP H. Viswanath has urged the Government to enforce laws relating to vacant sites, in the wake of increasing number of cases of non-construction of houses despite a long period of allotment.

He was speaking after inaugurating 'Dwaraka Layout' formed by Mysore District Employees House Building Co-operative Society here on Sunday.

There are thousands of alloted sites lying vacant in the city for the past several years. This number is even more in Bangalore. As such the government should implement laws, according to which allotted sites can be resumed if the allottee failed to build house within five years of allotted date, he said.

Continuing, Viswanath said that there were instances of a single indi vidual owning 3-4 sites and not building a house in any of them. This will only give way to escalation in site prices. There are many hardworking people who have not got a site all these years, he explained adding that this disrimination should come to an end.

MLA M. Satyanarayan, who also spoke on the occasion, observed that Baradanapura, Daripura, Dhanagalli villages should be provided drinking water facility under JNNURM scheme, as they are now included in Township.

MMC&RI Dean Dr. D. Venkatesh and others were present on the occasion.
