Mysore, Mar. 13 (MTY&KMC)- MLA S.A. Ramdas performed guddali puja for the road-widening and upgrading work from Gopal Gowda Shanthaveri Memorial Hospital to Regency theatre in city this morning.
The work is undertaken by the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) using the State Finance Commission (SFC) grants, at a total cost of Rs. 1.06 crore.
The road will be widened upto 10 metres, footpath will be provided in front of Postal Training Institute and Vasanth Mahal Educational Institute and drains will be constructed at select spots.
The main road in front of the Zoo will also be widened upto 12.5 metres under the project.
Ramdas later launched another road-widening and as-phalting work at K.C. Layout, worth Rs. 12.5 lakh.
The Cauvery water supply project in K.C. Layout was also launched by the MLA. The project, taken up at a cost of Rs. 2.5 lakh, will supply water to K.C. Layout residents on alternate days from an overhead tank.
The two new parks in K.C. Layout were inaugurated by Star of Mysore Editor-in-Chief K.B. Ganapathy and Ramdas.
MLA Ramdas, speaking to press persons, assured to provide an arch to the newly inaugurated park and pave the walkways with interlocking tiles.
He also assured of estab- lishing a Heritage Park on the 35- acre MUDA land near Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel and said that the area, coming under Ward No. 65, had several places of tourist interest and as such, the traffic density was higher, needing better roads and parking space.
Ramdas said that keeping this in mind, the area at Zoo's entrance, where parking is a major problem, will be widened and additional parking arrangements made on Race Course Road.
Area Corporator Vanitha Prasanna, Krishnaraja Constituency BJP President Somasundar, Ward President Bhaskar, MCC Assistant Commissioner Mahesh, Vani Vilas Water Works Assistant Executive Engineer Karigowda, MUDA Engineer Pandu and others were present.
