Guarded by heavily armed Police personnel under the watchful eyes of Election Officials, the three counting centres of votes polled during the MCC election — Maharani’s Arts and Commerce College on JLB Road, JSS College on Ooty Road and JSS Pharmacy College in Bannimantap — here have virtually turned into fortresses. Counting will be held on Mar. 11 at 8 am.
The Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), collected from the polling booths of all the 65 Wards in city after the polls yesterday, have been sealed and secured at the specially made strong rooms at these centres.
About 50 Police personnel drawn from CAR and KSRP have been deployed at each centre per shift to maintain round-the-clock vigil. ACPs and DCPs are said to be making periodical rounds to monitor fool-proof security arrangements.
The sniffer dog squad is also said to be making the customary vigilance drill at the centres to ensure that no stone is left unturned.
