Mysore, July 7 (SH)- The government has appointed Markandeya as the Executive Director of Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Garden here, coming under the Karnataka Zoo Authority.

The order of the appointment has also been issued by the government while the Chief Conservator of Forest, Madikeri, was holding charge of the post.

The newly appointed officer Markandeya will take charge of the post at 10.30 am tomorrow.

Following the transfer of Vijayaranjan Singh functioning in the post of Executive Director of Mysore Zoo, Mahesh Shirur, who had been asked to take charge in the post, was promoted from the post of DCF to Chief Conservator's post.

However, for some reasons, he could never assume charge of the post. Subsequently, Yatish Kumar, DCF (Wildlife Division), had been appointed in-charge Executive Director.

Transferred

K.D. Belliappa, Assistant Director, Mysore Zoo, has been transferred as Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) at Nagarahole National Park. Vijayakumar, ACF, Madikeri, has been appointed in that post. It is to be noted that Markandeya and Vijayakumar were working together in Madikeri.

At present, they have both been transferred to Mysore Zoo. Also, Vijayaranjan Singh, who was functioning at the Zoo and Belliappa will work together at Nagarahole forest.
