Mysore, May 14 (DV&KK)- A mammoth protest rally was organised here today by Mysore and Chamarajanagar District Uppara Sangha against TTL Trust over the disputed Uppara Hostel land in Saraswathipuram.

The rally was flagged off by Sri Purushothamanandapuri Swamiji of Uppara Community near Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple on the north gate of the Palace.

Sangha President and Chamarajanagar MLA C. Puttarangashetty, Hon. President Hanumantha Shetty and Working President P.S. Vishakantaiah led the rally of around 5,000 people. Office-bearers Sudhakar Naidu, Sagar, Shivaramu and advocate Arunkumar were also present.

The rallyists marched to the DC's office via K.R. Circle and Devaraj Urs Road to submit a memorandum. ACPs V.A. Pujar, Vishnuvardhan and Inspectors of all the Police Stations provided security during the procession.

The protestors alleged that the MCC had illegally transferred the khatha of Uppara Hostel in the name of TTL Trust on 10.5.1999 and demanded that it should be cancelled.

They also demanded that TTL Trust should be dissolved and the educational institutions be closed. Accusing Asst. Commissioner Bharathi of being against the community, they demanded her removal from the post.
