District Administration has declared Dry Day from 7 am on Mar. 6 to 8 pm on Mar. 7 and also from 6 am to 8 pm on Mar. 11 (counting day of MCC polls).
The mustering process will be done on Mar. 6 at Ursu Boarding School, Baden Powell School and Maharani Arts & Commerce College, while the De-mustering process will be done at JSS Pharmacy College, Bannimantap, Maharani Arts and Science College, JLB Road and JSS College, Ooty Road on Mar. 7. Counting of votes will be held at the same premises on Mar. 11.
Public holiday: District Administration has declared public holiday on the polling day.
Police security: DC Dr. Ramegowda said that check-post on all highways have been kept on high alert to avoid flow of liquor and money. All 20 check posts surrounding Mysore District will undertake round-the-clock vigilance. This apart, the Police department has also warned rowdy sheeters and those with notorious background have been banished from the district. Police have also recovered licensed guns from suspicious people. The DC added that so far 25 sand lorries plying after 7 pm were seized by the Police as per the directions of State and Central Election Commission.
Speaking to media persons, Police Commissioner K.L. Sudhir said that around 2,500 Police personnel, 12 KSRP platoons, 14 CAR platoons, 3 Commando groups and 500 Home Guards will deployed for the MCC elections and 2,000 Police personnel in addition to KSRP and DAR platoons have been deployed at Mysore District limits to conduct free and fair polls. Video recording will be done in all sensitive and hypersensitive polling booths.
Another official relieved from election duty
Addressing press persons, DC Dr. Ramegowda said M.R. Raghavendra, an officer attached to MCC Zonal Office 7, was relieved of election duties as Returning Officer on charges of dereliction of duty. He also said that Raghavendra was kept under suspension. He has been replaced by one Prakash, an MCC official, as Returning Officer. It may be recalled that an official Mahesh was also relieved of his election duties on similar charges.
