About 1,000 volunteers of Let's Do It! Mysore undertook a door-to-door campaign in Lashkar Mohalla, N.R. Mohalla and nearby areas in city yesterday to spread awareness on waste management with stress on segregation at source.

The campaign was launched by Mysore City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner P.G. Ramesh. Health Officer Dr. Nagaraj and environmental engineers were present.

The volunteers briefed every household on the necessity of segregation of wet and dry waste at source and ill-effects of usage of plastic.

Informative handbills on the subject were distributed among the residents.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh announced that from Feb. 24 onwards, MCC in association with Let's Do It! Mysore would distribute two dustbins (red and green), sponsored by various companies, to every house in city for segregating and collecting wet and dry waste.

He hoped that the residents would co-operate and make the mission to thoroughly clean the city feasible.
