Mysore, Mar. 10 (KCU&RK)- To woo farmers to part with their lands to develop and form sites for distribution, Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has evolved a new 40:60 formula wherein 40 per cent of the fully developed sites would be given to the farmers from whom the lands were acquired by MUDA.

Disclosing this to press persons after the Janaspandana programme at MUDA office here today, its Commissioner P.C. Jayanna said that the new formula has been approved by the Governing Body and has been sent to the Government for approval.

"The scheme has been explained to the farmers at a meeting held with them recently and the response has been overwhelming. On getting the Government's nod, the scheme would be conceptualised at five places. To begin with it would experimentally go on stream at Alala Chowdalli to be named as Swarna Jayanthi Nagar on completion," he explained, adding that about 1600 acres of land here been identified for the scheme.

OYHS for the needy

Jayanna announced that another scheme on the anvil was reviving the Own Your House Scheme (OYHS) for the needy economically weaker section wherein about 600 houses would be built after getting the government's nod. "However the applicants would be thoroughly screened for non-possession of any other site, their annual income and other parameters," he said.

Regarding the vacant sites remaining unutilised for several years after allotment, Jayanna pointed out that notices would be served to such of those not in possession of title deeds or where the lease agreements had expired.

Janaspandana

Only four cases had been picked up for hearing today.

Raghava of J.P. Nagar airing his grievance said that about 6.5 acres of land had been received as gift from his ancestors in 1967 which was documented by the then Gram Panchayat. "Few houses were even built there. However, MUDA acquired the said land in 1982," he said requesting the officials to handover the land to him.

Replying to this, Land Acquisition Officer Kantharaj explained that it was a Government's order and any query was possible only if the applicant moves the court.

MUDA Superintending Engineer Shivakumar, Executive Engineer Veerabhadraiah, Town Planning Member M.N. Kumar, Secretary Ravikumar and Zonal Officers were present.
