KSRTC launched 300 special buses for Dasara to various districts in State at a function held at the Sub-urban bus stand here this morning. These buses would ply till Oct. 14.
Volvo buses to Gundlupet and Chamarajanagar were also flagged off on the occasion.
KSRTC Chief Traffic Manager, Bangalore, Ashok Kumar, Chief Mechanical Engineer Mallikarjun and Divisional Controller Srinivas launched the buses.
Briefing SOM, Srinivas said that “Last year, 150 extra buses were introduced for Dasara to nearby districts but now it is increased to 300 to far off districts too. The package tours of Giridarshini, Jaladarshini, Devadarhshini and Nagaradarshini have been on from Oct. 5 to cover important classified tourist destinations.”
Volvo to Chamarajanagar
Srinivas said that Volvo buses to Gundlupet and Chamarajanagar were being run on an experimental basis with a nominal hike of Rs. 10 in the fare with respect to the regular buses.
Srinivas further said that Volvo service has been introduced to Madikeri, Cannanore, Thrissur, Dharmasthala and Mangalore. He added that more buses have been added on routes to all the taluks in the district.
