In a tragic road mishap, a KSRTC driver was killed when a lorry rammed into the Bajaj Chetak scooter he was riding near ESI Hospital on KRS Road here yesterday.

The unfortunate KSRTC driver has been identified as Ningaraju (55), attached to KSRTC Rural Depot-1 and a resident of 10th Cross, 2nd Stage, Vijayanagar.

It is reported that the mishap occurred when Ningaraju, who was travelling to Bannimantap via Gokulam to reach KRS road, tried to take a right turn near ESI when the LPG cylinder-laden lorry rammed into his scooter resulting in severe injuries.

Ningaraju, who was found lying on the road, was shifted to K.R.Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

V.V.Puram Traffic Police, who have registered a case, have taken lorry driver Raghavendra into custody. The body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem at MMC&RI Mortuary. Many KSRTC officials, drivers and conductors have condoled his death.

Ningaraju leaves behind his wife, three daughters and a son.
