Mysore, May 22 (SH&KK)- Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa yesterday disclosed that the Open Varsity would be offering instructions for MBA students online.
Participating in an interaction with the media organised for the benefit of journalism students here on Friday, Prof. Rangappa disclosed that the facility of online instructions would be provided in addition to supply of text books.
Further, 10 regional contact centres will be created for the benefit of all students pursuing courses through distance education under an ambitious project of extending the scope of distance education, Prof. Rangappa said.
New campus
The present campus of the Open University is small and addition to the existing infrastructure for expanding the activities will not serve the purpose. In that backdrop, the University will be moved to a new campus on the city's outskirts within six months, he disclosed. If the doctors, administration and media are dishonest, progress will not be possible. There were people who could withstand hardship in the past but at present people are not willing to face hardship, he regretted.
There was no need for a degree in order to be a journalist. It was sufficient to be literate and possess the writing skills, said K. Shivakumar, President, Mysore District Journalists Association.
Registrar K.R. Jayaprakash Rao, Deans Prof. Jagadish and Prof. Sushila Urs were present. Shailesh Raj Urs, Head, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, welcomed.
