Mysore, June 18 (KCU&RK)- K.R. Hospital has got a unique Blood Transportation van which will transport blood collected at donation camps to blood banks.
The van has been provided by the Department of Health and Family Welfare and Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society.
K.R. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Geetha K. Avadhani formally inaugurated the vehicle yesterday.
Explaining its features, she said the van has four refrigerated compartments to store the blood.
"The government has provided 9 such vans to hospitals in State. A log book provided in the van would record all the relevant details of blood collected, temperature maintained and the distance transported which would be regularly checked by the Blood Bank Officer," she said.
Hospital Blood Bank Officer Dr. Manjunath, Dr. C. Rajan, Dr. N. Rachegowda and Nursing Superintendent C.H. Mallapur were present on the occasion.
