Well-equipped bldg. to be constructed in 15 acres land

Mysore, Mar. 11 (RK&KMC)- Heart patients in the city and its surrounding regions can now heave a sigh of relief since cardiac treatment will be available at down-to-earth prices at the K.R. Hospital.

The K.R. Hospital, also popular by known as the Doddaspathre, caters to the medical needs of the not-so-fortunate populace of Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu and Hassan districts.

Since the numbers of persons visiting the hospital — both as inpatients and outpatients with cancer and cardiac related ailments — is on the rise every day, it has been decided to start a Cardiac Treatment Centre at the K.R. Hospital premises, said the Director and Dean of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) Dr. D. Venkatesh.

The then District-in-charge Minister Shobha Karandlaje is said to have impressed upon Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, the need for a cardiac care unit for the people of lower economy group; the result of which is the Rs. 5 crore grant each for the Jayadeva Cardiac Centre and Kidwai Cancer Hospital, Bangalore.

Presently, the Jayadeva Hospital authorities have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the K.R. Hospital administration for the use of 15 acres of land in city, in which the hospital complex will be constructed.

The hospital complex would comprise Out Patients Department (OPD), X-ray Unit, Scanning, Examination, In-Patients' Department (IPD), Operation Theatre, Laboratory, Residential Medical Officer's quarters, doctors' and staff quarters, administrative offices etc., Dr. Venkatesh said.
